Annoying Apple issues.

Not so daily chatter.

My MacBook Pro is giving me grief. Not as much as my Dell Latitude used to give me three years ago, but it's still annoying. I've searched high and low for a solution over the reconnection of the WiFi on my wireless network and I can't find a single solution. the problem is that every time the machine goes to sleep it will not reconnect to my WiFi upon wake. this wasn't an issue initially when I had tiger installed. It began to appear recently over the last few Leopard updates. 

I have a new MacBook at school and it has a very good signal in areas where my MBP does not. I haven't seen the same issue of reconnecting either. So, is it hardware? Software? 

In order to find a fix for this I resorted to the following:

1. I deleted all the Keychains related to Airport and the connections. There were a few and a couple had duplicates.

2. I deleted a couple of files from the system (I forget what they are now).

Did it work. No, I'm still testing. I'll see over the next couple of days.

iPhone

Well, the madness has been going on for a day already and iPhone is the buzz word everywhere. I have checked out the latest plans and have kept wondering where the heck that $199 and $299 price went to? The guys who dissected the iPhone in NZ bought it for NZ$979??? What the?

Anyway, also been trying to download iTunes 7.7 and I reckon the servers must be chock full of people downloading it so they can buy more apps. Remote??

Just pondering on how much data there would be in the whole wide world. Any guesses?

Designwyse PD

Today I attended the PD at Designwyse. VELS stuff puts me to sleep. It's interesting that ICT holds the basket together. Anyway, we got onto the creative stuff. iLife is presented and, yes, it makes sense to have system that holds all the creative software together. So I think. Can kids be creative whilst studying Politics or Business? There are certainly a number of aspiring movie makers out there and a lot of kids buying MacBooks, but creativity per se does not give me a pass in VCE or HSC.

The question again arises, why have ICT in schools? Well, we have an ever changing technological world and kids must get used to it. Do podcasts, vodcasts and other related creative activities actually help kids in some sense.

Then, there's the question of creativity in the junior and middle schools years. Does the knitting of ICT into the mainstream curriculum actually help you to get through school? Obviously it provides different avenues for expression, where the "old schools" fail, in comes a new age where technology rescues us from monotony. Will pen and paper suffice or will the iLife and other creative suites give another flavour to the old pumpkin soup?

These questions and more I propose to answer in more or less words as I delve deeper into the integration of ICT into the curriculum.
